A Surge of Innovation and Sustainability
As an Industry Analyst, attending the Everything Electric Show at the Vancouver Convention Centre last weekend was nothing short of exhilarating. The event showcased the future of electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, and sustainable home solutions, attracting industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts from across the globe.
Insightful Speaker Sessions
One of the main highlights of the show was the impressive lineup of over 50 live sessions, spread across the Giga and Mega Theatres. These sessions addressed key topics such as fleet electrification, electric aviation, and the future of urban mobility. Notable experts like Michael Barnard explored complex issues, including the challenges of electrifying heavy industries and the pathway toward sustainable shipping. Discussions also focused on the practical implementation of EV technology, the role of policy in promoting sustainability, and the intersection of renewable energy with urban planning.

Exhibitor Booths, Home Automation, and Commercial Vehicles
The exhibitor booths were a showcase of innovation, featuring companies in home automation and energy management, such as I-Charge and variablegrid, providing the latest in sustainable energy solutions. Brands like Tesla, Kia, and VinFast displayed their newest models, from sleek electric passenger cars to heavy-duty commercial trucks. The Commercial Vehicle Zone provided an insightful look into the electric future of freight transport, with electric trucks, buses, and other large vehicles at the forefront.
Personal Test Drives of the Latest EVs
For attendees eager to get hands-on with the latest EV technology, the EV Test Drive Experience didn’t disappoint. I personally test drove four EVs: the Rivian R1T, Kia EV9, VinFast VF9, and GMC Hummer. The show offered more than 60 EV models for test drives, making it the largest EV test drive programme in Canada. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore and sit inside other models, including highlights like the Rolls-Royce Spectre, Porsche Taycan 2025, and exclusive unveils of the Polestar Concept BST and Hyundai IONIQ5.
Micro-Mobility and Home Energy Solutions
Beyond cars, the Micro Mobility Test Track provided a thrilling experience with e-bikes, scooters, and electric skateboards, giving attendees a hands-on look at the latest in small electric mobility solutions. The Energy Advice Zone was another standout feature, offering personalized advice on home energy solutions, including heat pumps, smart meters, solar PV systems, and EV charging options. Experts provided one-on-one consultations to help attendees reduce energy consumption and integrate sustainable technologies into their homes.

The Everything Electric Show 2024 was truly a landmark event, showcasing the possibilities of electrification across both consumer and commercial sectors. It left attendees optimistic about the role of electric vehicles and renewable energy in shaping a cleaner, greener future.
